Inclusive Village" Project opens doors in Vila Real de Santo António
Delegação de Vila Real de Santo António
On July 3, the Vila Real de Santo António Delegation of the Portuguese Red Cross (DVRSA_CVP) opened the doors of an excellent project "Vila Inclusiva", Winner of the 2022 BPI / La Caixa Foundation Solidarity Prize, in partnership with the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António.

This moment was marked by the presence of Mário Gama - representative of the BPI "la Caixa" Foundation Awards, of Álvaro Araújo - mayor of Vila Real de Santo António that with Manuel Marrafa - Special Delegate of DVRSA - CVP, in a symbolic gesture, unveiled the identifying plate of the project.
During the inauguration, we also had the visit of representatives of the local branch of BPI and several entities that make up the Social Network of the Municipality of VRSA, which took the opportunity to visit the space and understand in-loco its operation.

The Project "Inclusive Village" contemplates a Social Grocery Store and a Social Store, which supports people and families in situations of socio-economic vulnerability living in the municipality, facilitating access to essential goods - i.e, Food; childcare articles; hygiene products; clothing; technical aids; among others.

With recourse to a credit management system, whose /plafond/ is variable according to the socioeconomic evaluation carried out by the Technical Team of the Social Action Sub Division of the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António. This modality ensures an alternative response to the distribution of food and essential goods to families, with the particularity that the goods can be chosen by the families themselves, enhancing freedom of choice and thus dignity and individual empowerment.

As a community social intervention project, it aims, concomitantly, to enhance the involvement of civil society, creating a system of sharing surplus production and/or other essential goods that can be useful to those who need it most, fostering the active participation of the community, social solidarity and environmental sustainability.

It already has several institutional and private partners, namely the Food Bank Against Hunger, and this number is growing daily.

TheInclusive Village thus seeks to homogenize the access of people in unprotected social situation to basic services, by ensuring their rights and mainly human dignity, greatly promoting their quality of life .

The Project is located in the Industrial Zone of VRSA, Warehouse 46, working from Monday to Friday from 9am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm.
