On May 23, the "+ Próximo" Project developed by the Tavira Humanitarian Center of the Portuguese Red Cross, in the municipality of Alcoutim, was attended by the Minister of Internal Administration, the Secretary of State for Internal Administration, the Mayor of Alcoutim, and the National President of the Portuguese Red Cross.

 

On site they were able to see how the project works, which supports about 80 elderly people in social and geographical isolation. During the visit, some users shared the importance of feeling more secure and accompanied with the home visits carried out by members of our structure and with the Teleassistance service.

The "+ Próximo" results from an association to the local security contract of the Alcoutim municipality, funded by the Ministry of Internal Administration and accompanied by the Municipality of Alcoutim.

This project, already in its 3rd edition, has already been distinguished with two awards in the area of Aging, and we believe that its good practices can be replicated in other municipalities.
